This rare film of Frontierland at Morecambe shows the big wheel which was, at the time, the joint largest in the country (along with one at 'Dreamlands' in Margate.) In addition, the perilous wooden-structured 'Cyclone' is still giving rides.

  • Morecambe was a great place to visit in the 1980s. It suffered flooding and a few other tragedies down the years, but it is getting there. It used to have a pub called Lucifer's that my big cousin worked one of her summers off in 1984.

  • wish it was still here so i can ride on it <3

  • Wonderful. Thanks.

  • The big wheel was fantastic, there were some great all round views from the top !

  • We received a ride all day pass, me and my brother spent all day on the log flume.

Great days out, sad how the council let it go to ruin...

  • Its great to see film of Morcambe's Cyclone. I went on it in the 1950s with my father and you couldn't see the three big dips hidden from site by the other buildings around. I was really scared then but of course nowadays it would seem tame.

  • I went with my Nan to Morecambe every summer from around 1977 to 1981. We always stayed at the Hazelmere. I loved going to Frontierland and my favourite ride was the parasols. I also loved the Noah's Ark. Such happy memories. Thanks for posting this.

  • I feel like laughing
