Fender Bandmaster Reverb demo, with original 2x12 (Utah speakers). Clean sounds first, then the volume is turned up to make the amp crunch, while using a speaker load. The guitar is an SRV Fender strat going straight into the amp.

  • What is a "Speaker Load"? I have this same amp, BTW. Amazing! Nice playing too, man.

  • It is a speaker attenuator if you prefer. It allows to run the amp high while reducing the signal going to the speaker for an acceptable volume.

  • Is the bandmaster not build like a super reverb?

    or very similar...?

  • It's not too far off but the power supply is of a different design and that makes a big difference in the overall sound: softer and spongier for the Bandmaster, punchier, tighter and louder for the Super Reverb. They both are great amps anyway.

  • Does all the compression come from your camera or maybe the "powerbrake/attenuator" your useing ? This amp sounds really good in my opinion . I restored one just like it and its one of my favorites . The output doesn't really seem to change much past a certain point but all the tones done . Very fun amp.

  • The breakup is due to the amp being pushed while the volume is maintained to an acceptable level thanks to the power attenuator I designed. They indeed are very good AND fun amps. I still prefer the Bassman of the same era: no reverb but more crunch!

  • I have had a 69-1/2 or 70 silverface for approx 25 years. Very reliable. Never liked it much for lack of volume and either floppy lows or stingy highs depending on how you set the tone. BUT, I blew a couple of amps lately(marshall and peavey) playing in clubs. I dug the bandmaster out, stuck a boss turbo overdrive, next a ME-50. OMG The fat clarity and power is GREAT. I remember years ago I used to push the input hard with an old digitech pro legend and it was amazing. These really are great.

  • i think that the attenuator is changing the tone a bit. sound good, but i get a less hendrixy tone than yours. more bottom end for sure.

  • nice. Want to trade?

  • I had one of these back in the 'seventies and it was just not loud enough, nice tone and all that but it is a quiet band, cabaret or bedroom amp. just ask the axis, he knows everything. Cheers to all

  • I want one!

  • I said does all the extra "COMPRESSION" not breakup come from the mike on your video camera . I have one of these Bandmaster Reverbs amp & cabs . It just sounds way more compressed than mine . I guess its the camera . Sounds great anyway , nice playing also .
