I'm Canadian but I'm originally from Catalonia (Spain)...so you're Greek Cypriot? You're right absolutely I for one think religion and democracy don't mix, and that's especially the case for islam. One thing to note as well is that none of the muslim parties that participate in the democratic system call themselves "muslim democrats". This is significant because it hints that they use democracy as a tool to eventually seize control and subvert the system.

@elsblaugranas I really wanted to be on the panel :) I agree with you 1. Turkish democracy is not present; non Muslims cannot build churches freely, the head of the Orthodox Christian church cannot pray in his church (agia sophia) instead the Turks turked it into a museum. Imagine the West took over Arabia and turned Mecca into a museum. The female debator thinks that by raising her voice, she will win. Political Islam, as the Quran states= total domination. Where are you from?:)

@CyprusHot Exactly...i thought her attempts to compare Islamists with Christian democrats are dishonest as islamists seek to suppress the democratic system whilst the Christian democrats by and large accept it. The example of Turkish islamists is not good as there has been tension there and worries that the country will become more religious, which in fact it is (according to a friend of mine who used to live there). If you're from Cyprus perhaps you know more about this than I do :).

The lady is deluded!!! you cannot just dismiss Tim's point about the survey. Yes there's extermism everywhere but that's like saying there are murders everywhere so there's no need to discuss why O.J killed his wife. These ppl are killing ppl, and are ideologically opposed to Western values why not explicitly say that? Islam has no room in politics, and neither does Christianity. Christian democrats believe in secular political n civil society, and dont want Christian law introduced. Admit that.
