This lecture will be the third of a ten-part series on "Life and Learning in the Great Christian Traditions". This series is a part of the Templeton Honors College public forum offerings.Fr. John Behr is an Eastern Orthodox priest and Dean of St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in Yonkers, New York, where he teaches Patristics. Fr. Behr has taken degrees from Thames Polytechnic and Oxford University, where he studied under Bishop Kallistos Ware. He was previously the editor of the Popular Patristics Series released by St. Vladimir's Press. His books include an annotated translation of Irenaeus of Lyon's On the Apostolic Preaching (SVS Press: 1997); Asceticism and Anthropology in Irenaeus and Clement (OUP: 2000); The Way to Nicaea (The Formation of Christian Theology, Volume 1) (SVS Press: 2001); The Nicene Faith (The Formation of Christian Theology, Volume 2) (SVS Press, 2004); The Mystery of Christ: Life in Death (SVS Press: 2006).
