Can the auto 1hr Time Machine backup be done over the Internet (TCP/IP) even if your Mac is not on the same subnet? As in Time Capsule is at home, I'm connected for 1hr+ at work/school/internet cafe, will it auto backup?

It has to be a separate physical hard drive. So if you already have an external one it will work with that without formatting it or anything. However, you can't put your backups on your internal hard drive because if the drive fails, so does your backup. If you think about it, it wouldn't make much sense.

I have Time Machine on my MacBook. The initial backup backs up everything on your drive to the external hard drive. It will back up to the external drive every hour as long as it's connected and only back up the files that have changed. My Time Machine backup is 120GB and it's been running since December of 2007.

Dude, lets say my mac just died... Can I use my back up to restore it on a new mac or nah?

You can use Apple's Migration Assistant. If you are reinstalling Leopard there will be an option to restore from a Time Machine backup. I did do that once; it took a while but worked flawlessly.
