Can Budapest's historic Jewish quarter, a UNESCO protected site, survive the property developers? Why is the mayor allowing so many important historic building to be pulled down? "Now that we live in peace time, the rich history of this quarter has suddenly become irrelevant", laments one resident. Paradoxically, the largest building contractor destroying the quarter is run by an Israeli investor. "It is not the duty of investors to care for protected monuments", he states. Many suspect the local government is taking bribes in return for sanctioning the demolitions

@debuftea There are some buildings and areas that where demolished because of the harsh conditions of the buildings.There is a law of protection historical buildings,but some decision makers are corrupt and theyr sold some of those protected buildings.They are going to prison!Some already in custody by now!Things change with the newly elected goverment!
