fatalcrixer: Did you just simply connect the iphone to the computer or did you use a recovery software also?

I also have the same issue, i've tried all recovery softwares, button combinations, upgrade/downgrade firmware but none of it works!! My phone was water damaged in salty sea water so I opened it up and dried it, left it for 1 week andnow it comes on but keeps rebooting itself to recovery mode. Any suggestions by anyone??? Thanks!

Your not going to believe this, I used my iPad2 charger and plugged it in to my 3GS and it kicked it out of the loop only now my touch screen is squirrelly!!

Hey mate did you get this sorted I have the same exact problem ... very rear occasion it will actually boot up ... Only seen it 3 times ...but still have the same issue as you .. did you try and kick out of recovery with any software ?
