Smaller AirFields Good, Part 2: "Sand"--Stupid marines in pup tents and open holes without overhead cover
In the last part of the "Sand & Steel" USMC documentary, the gyrenes don't do so well when confronted with the sand all around them--and in their heads. With the USN Seabees doing the thinking and hard work to create an aircraft carrier flight deck on land for them, the best the Jarheads can do is patrol in lemming lines wearing white t-shirts and piss-poor, uncamouflaged helmets and bodies--when not walking into Viet Cong (VC) ambushes or stepping on land mines and boob-traps, the "boobs" are sitting in OPEN foxholes without overhead cover waiting for the enemy to attack them!

Back at the air base, they are living in pup-tents and under tarps smoking cigarettes on cots waiting for enemy mortars, rockets and tube artillery to rain down on them--which the VC/NVA oblige them--causing the USMC to suffer more deaths and woundings than they had during all of WW2! No U.S. Soldier should live in a tent in a combat zone:

And since the marines are too immature to admit to their mistakes, we shouild keep them away from any danger lest they kill and wound themselves so they can self-proclaim that they are "heroes".
After reading about how the Australians conducted operations in Vietnam, the whole US "strategy" there seems laughable in comparison. At least the Army once again looks better thanks to the Marine Corps.
