First Wichita built B-52D and 7 others Departed Castle AFB and flew to Baltimore via Columbus Loring Newfoundland Thule North Pole Anchorage Seattle San Francisco Los Angeles and Abilene. 16,000sm.
Oh Man! My dad was one of the pilots on that mission. Early in '57 He went around the world in a B-52 called 'The Lonesome George'. Thanks for the memories man.
How would you like to SAC your bad guys? Paper, plastic, or a nuke?
As a former Loring Air Force Base Brat, I remember well watching in utter amazement these big planes lumbering down the tarmac. It seemed like they would never get into the air. But, sure enough, they proved time and time again that no matter how big a plane is, the odds are always broken. Thanks for putting up this vid.

I was a BRAT - my Dad (Ken Sweeney) was a tail-gunner stationed at Loring, Bergstrom, and Westover. I miss the BUFFs!
