  • During the depression we had mothers who were home with their children; mothers who cooked, cleaned, and were meticulous managers of the home. Today mothers would rather have others raise their children and fastfood and no one manages the home. In a way, this recession may be a godsend to teach parents how to be parents, how to be frugile, and how to make home the most important consideration.

From one old woman in Colorado.

  • LOL,"Im comparison, do you think we're whiners?"

    Clara: "Oh yes."

  • I'll bet in her day for fun they went to a lynching.

  • I'm glad Clara read this CBS Premadonna like the shallow book she is. CBS, leave our Clara alone!

  • Not so mild mannered ??? Someone slap that "news" lady

  • I'm excited about these videos. I love to cook and love others sharing wisdom. Thank you Clara for your time.

  • @applefanAidyn not sure who you are or how old ... but would you be polite to a reporter if you were 93 years old ?!?!? ... plz take a steep back and look at your self :D

  • Clara wasn't very polite to the reporter

  • Clara is great - she comes from an era when people had some better values (in many ways). Yes, we are BIG WHINERS nowadays, even with the hard times that have come upon us all globally. We could learn a lot from the frugality of the Depression era survivors! I'm glad she's on the internet. Yay Clara! :-)

  • @DKMontoya4670

I stayed home with my kids, but it wasn't easy and with the tax structure today it's been made more difficult, plus if you make that choice in todays day and age you will probably face some lonely times, because not to many make that choice. There are even times when other women would look down on my choice. My kids all turned out well though, they never got into trouble.
