Prototype of a selfmade display for the stackmat timer (used for cupstacking and speedcubing). The hardware is essentially just a single Atmel Microprocessor (about 2 dollars) and some LED displays (about 1 dollar each, depending on the size). The original display costs about 100 dollars (!!!).

I am planning to implement all features of the original and some additional stuff like average calculation, etc.. Feel free to comment for feature requests :-)

Note: This thing works WITHOUT a PC! Just the stackmat and a power supply (a 9V battery is more than enough).

  • what things u use in your stackmat to make that?

  • What do you mean? its a normal competition stackmat timer. I did not modify anything inside the stackmat.

Wait some days, I just finished the real thing (the display in the video was just a small prototype). It looks really good :-) Be patient ;-)

  • wats the red LED showing?

  • the right most red digit is the minute of the time.. the leftmost is the button state (for example 4 and 6 are left and right, etc.).. thats just for now, for debugging, of course, this will be removed later..

  • OMG that's awesome!! Can you make a tutorial? :D

  • hehe, thanks. yes, if its finished, I will create a detailed description and a rough tutorial how to rebuild it. I have other things to do at the moment, but in about a month, I should be done.

  • I wanna make this

  • but will it blend?

  • I got a black one and when I use it, the red and green lights work as they should, but one I lift my hands it gets frozen with the lights on. When I turn it off and back on, works fine. Also it won't start unless I take both hands off the timer. Do you know what might be wrong with my timer? also the guy I bought it from said that he would include a new battery, I never got a new battery, so I assumed he put the new one in already, do you think buying new batteries would do anything?

  • whats music ?

  • i think he mean maybe u use the signal of the stackmat's lcd to light the LEDs

  • i agree =]

  • Audioslave rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice, is that soundgarden?
