On Sunday morning, May 20, Israeli Occupation Forces destroyed an apricot and date orchard comprised of 28 trees in the village of Artas near Bethlehem. Four Israeli activists were arrested.
I think Israel has bigger problems than wastewater. They are surrounded by crazy Muslims. Israel gave back the Gaza strip to those ungrateful Palestinians and they still keep sending rockets at Israel. This will never end unless the crazies succeed in wiping Israel off the map. I'm not surprised that Israel "accidently" sends some wastewater off to Palestinian farmland... I've been told Israeli's are rough people. Look where they live. I can't blame them.
Furthermore, even where treatment facilities do exist most of these are poorly maintained and defective, so raw sewage from these also flows onto Palestinian land. Environmental responsibility is not very high up on the Israeli authorities list of priorities - and is certainly not sacred!
The wastewater originating in settlements (17.5 million cubic metres annually) is a separate issue to that originating in Jerusalem. The report states that only 81 out of 121 settlements are connected to wastewater treatment facilities with the consequence that 5.5 million cubic metres of raw sewage flows into West Bank streams and Valleys annually.
Despite warnings from the Ministry of Environmental Protection to the relevant officials, no action has been taken to advance a solution for treating this wastewater ."
From the report you referenced "Over the years, the Jerusalem Municipality has proposed several solutions for treating this wastewater, but none has been implemented. Since the Palestinian Authority was established, these plans have required cooperation on its part. However, the PA has refused, claiming that doing so would legitimate Israels annexation of East Jerusalem. Cont'd
@JerrySPsy If you seriously believe that nonsense I'd suggest you check out the report 'Foul Play: neglect of wastewater treatment in the West bank'. You will find facts there. It was compiled by the (Israeli) Human rights organisation, B'Tselem and documents the widespread failure of Israeli settlements to treat wastewater properly, thereby dumping untreated sewage into Palestinian farmland.
Save your supposed "facts" for someone who believes them. One thing Israeli authorities holds sacred is environmental responsibility and they would never allow what you claimed so perhaps you should stop the propoganda -- and the lies -- such as your living and working nearby when it is clear that you live in the United Kingdom. Nice try though!
Uprooting trees? We are not informed of the reason but rest assured there is one. We'd be watching videos of Arabs slaughtering Jews if Israel hadn't won its wars against them. And what started it all? Palestinians killed many Jews in 1920 in Jerusalem, then Jaffa, Saffa, & Hebron (67 Jews were killed in Hebron in one day in 1929). Then you wonder why the Jewish underground was established! The Palestinians should have accepted the UN partition plan instead of trying to wipe out the Jews.
The world is is watching YOU ethnic cleanse the weak and poor. YOU are no longer protected by your PR gatekeepers. YOU are the cause of your own persecution. YOU are a racist, haters, exclusivist Judeo-Nazi regime Someday YOU and your leaders will be sought out like Nazi war criminals.
