Really sad. This horse is almost allways behind the virticle. This is backwards dressage. It's hard to see on this video but it seems like the horse is a worried lip flipper. The horse needs to be ridden into steady connection.

I don't see any forward/down here. His head is BTV, his mouth is open and looking for more room. I'm sorry, but this horse does not look like a happy camper.

I don't understand..
Why is the horse not allowed to bring his head up and/or out at all?
In a dressage test this would be considered behind the vertical (BTV).
Did your trainer explain the reasons for using this method as I would be interested to know?

This was an exercise to help the horse move forward energetically while allowing him to stretch over his back. He would be worked forward/down then collected and brought "up". It's only a schooling exercise; the horse would not be ridden like tis in an actual test.
