Indian Police Arrest Monk Over Bombing

India has been victim to a wave of bomb attacks this year, killing hundreds of people. In the latest effort by police, they have arrested a Hindu monk. The monk is suspected of bombing a Muslim village. Tensions between the Hindu and Muslim communities in India have often resulted in violence. Here's more.


STORY:
Bomb attacks have already killed more than 200 people this year in India. Police arrested a 36-year-old Hindu monk Dayanad Pandey suspected of conspiring in a September attack on the Muslim town Melegaon, killing four people.

Pandey, who often uses the alias Swami Amritanand, was arrested about 600 hundred miles from the scene of the blast.

The arrest has outraged India's opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, which accused the federal government of suspecting organizations without any substantial proof.

[Rajnath Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party Leader]:
"Without requisite and substantial evidence this government is trying to target Hindu saints and hermitages. And all these government actions look suspicious."

Earlier this month four other Hindus, including a senior army officer, were arrested in connection with the Malegaon attack and a second bombing in Modasa, some 200 miles north of Mumbai.

Police have also detained dozens of Muslims suspected of involvement in attacks. In October about 80 people died when 11 bombs ripped through the capital of Assam state. An Islamist group claimed responsibility.

Forget who claims what, whether the group is known or unknown.

This is very real and it has happened many times in history.

How do you know that Hindu monks, CIA, Mossad or any group against Muslims is not responsible for these attacks?

You don't know, further investigation has to take place to come to a clearer conclusion.

But claiming it was "radical Islam" is just premature.
