They get the sound but also the fuel consumption of a 2.5. It's the same with most 2.0 I6's. Underpowered and thirsty.

@Skunke totaly agree... those who buy a 320 only buy it for the 6cyl sound from a BMW.

@muumikuu hmmm, but the 318is engine is alot lighter then the 320is. and i have seen a some dragraces between those two cars. but okay. when im on the 24h race on the nurburgring they dont use 320is anymore (e36) they prefer the 318is becaus the acceleration is better, but the topspeed is slower with 5 kmh. that are the low budget racecars. but i dont know, im far away from an expert, but 1.9 145hp-16 valves vs 2.0 150hp-26 valves the 1.9 should win.

@sindrebk46 Well, actually, only 318is with m44 is 1.9, earlier models were m42 (1.8) and even that 1.9 is 140hp, while 320 is 150hp, i got 318is my self, and manual says at 320 is faster at acceleration, not a lot, but still faster:)

@Skunke Agree, everybody knows that the 318is is a 1,9 L on 4 sylinders. Less weight and the same amount of power that the 320i. So the race can't be real unless it's a 318i and not a is..
