@moniquepearson890491 No, they do not get mean. But! But they should have one friend. Piggies should never live alone unless needed :) You can have wood shavings or fleece, either is fine, but I have used both and I recommend 3 layers of newspaper (Optional), 2 layers of towel and 1-2 layers of fleece.
