New setting for "This is the Feast" froom Alleluia! -- a brand new setting for the communion mass, performed by The Braeded Chord. Commissioned by the Lutheran Church of Honolulu and written by the team of Sharon Dennis and Doris Au MacDonald (a.k.a. The Braeded Chord), Alleluia! is filled with memorable melodies and beautiful instrumentation set to upbeat rhythms. While it is fully scored for acoustic instruments-- piano, guitar, flute, and violin, it easily translates to contemporary instruments like drum, bass, and electric guitar (lead sheets available), as this recording demonstrates. Alleluia! bridges the gap between ancient tradition and modern worship.
I love it—its so singable Glorious! Wonderfully conceived melodies and harmonies, are among the initial responses. Included in the final score are settings for the complete mass: Kyrie Holy, Holy, Holy (Sanctus) Glory to God (Gloria) Memorial Acclamation This is the Feast Great Amen Gospel Acclamation (Alleluia) Great Thanksgiving (Sursum Corda) Lamb of God Lords Prayer Proper Prefaces (Lenten Sequence included)

  • Thank you for your comment and interest in the liturgy. It is currently being reviewed by a publisher and hopefully will be available for purchase in the near future. I will try to post this information here when it becomes available.

  • Thanks so much! Have you also seen the Kyrie, also on this channel (TBCDoris)?

    Blessings,

  • I love it. If it weren't for YouTube, I'd never have known how many Lutherans love this song.

  • Thanks-- and also posted on this channel (TBCDoris) is a new setting for the Kyrie, which you might enjoy

  • Perfect example of don't fix what isn't broken... how awful

  • the original arrangement is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard... it would be very hard to improve upon... this definetly is not an improvement

  • Glory to God alone, Soli Deo Gloria!

  • Great love it

  • eh... I dont like how this ones done, great song tho

  • The negative comments regarding this setting are unsettling in their tone. This isn't the type of music I especially like, but it is tasteful, simple, and appropriate for a quieter liturgical celebration. Why all of the defensiveness? Are you really that convinced that Hillert's 1975 setting is some kind of sacred relic that must stand as the only possible tune used? It is fine in its own way, but it's very 70s sounding and undeserving of the almost idolatrous praise it's being awarded.

  • @Carrie82157 I'm young, this is crap for lack of better words. This is the Feast should be majestic with organ imo.

  • I have seen this video a dozen times and I love it :)

  • I can understand that young like more modern music during worship, but I have to say this makes me sad. This is my favorite song and I think the original tune was beautiful. This just seems to cheapen it. With that said, the message still gets across, so technically there is nothing wrong with it.

  • I dont like it.

  • This is a very sweet and gentle arrangement of these moving Biblical texts taken from Revelation. Thank you for "YouTubing" it!

  • I think it's lovely. Thanks. I worship in classical service and love the Lutheran hymnal. I had this song stuck in my head for about 3 days after the first time I heard it on here. We sing it in church and I heard it hear and it just got stuck there. It's good though because I really like it.
