Compilation of all the short clips of TV-DX seen from Jacksonville FL, 1988-90. Started there with an indoor UHF 4-bay in my 2nd floor apartment; eventually sweet-talked the landlord (OK, there was a little bribery involved as well) into allowing a 5' UHF dish and large VHF log on the roof (about 30' AG). Calls and locations can be found on the individual clips.
"Why are so many clips short/truncated/cut off?" Footage began life as raw VHS videos of DX sessions. I then dubbed pertinent excerpts (IDs, TPs, etc.) to a viewing tape, with more complete clips than you see here. I later edited them down further, cutting to the bone, on a 2nd generation dub I shared with a few friends. Unfortunately, I didn't realize back then that you couldn't really do tight edits by simply lashing two VHS machines together, so often a syllable or portion thereof is cut off. That is the copy that survives; the previous, fuller version is long gone.
"Are these all the clips you have?" Yup, that's it, WYSIWYG. I DXed for almost 15 years before I ever acquired a VCR, so many, many nice DX loggings were never recorded. Also, quite a few clips from my VHS days (particularly things like fluttery e-skip or weak tropo) were just too unstable to cleanly digitize. (These clips were "ripped" many years ago, when my computer power and software only allowed for small, 320x240 lo-res WMV clips.)
