Donovan Bailey's heroics were highlighted at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA, USA.
On July 27, 1996 he won the 100 m race at a 9.84 world record time.

Bailey's time of 9.84 in Atlanta was the 100 m world record from 1996 until 1999, when it was broken by Greene. The time also stood as the Commonwealth record from 1996 until 2005, when it was broken by Asafa Powell, and is the current Canadian record (shared with Bruny Surin since 1999). His Olympic record was broken by Usain Bolt at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

He is the fastest man ever only if we exclude all of his other runs and only focus on that one single event. Explosive results do not correlate with average statistics. He might be real slow when he walks, you know? ;)

Actually, because someyone HAS runned a faster time than someyone else it does not mean that the guy with the faster time is FASTER.

Eeehm, Bolt ran 100m in 2008 in 9.58, ergo he is the fastest man ever?

He was a star but he never got the credit he deserved for winning that medal cuz that medal was huge for this country after the ben johnson thing. After a start like that like that he came back and did it. Then hammered the americans in the 4x100 for the cherry on top. Ben was a way bigger deal at his time
