After a moment of silence with nothing but the cool breeze, they're both just sitting there. Demi goes to glide the back of her fingers against his ear. She gets his attention when he looks back at her. "Talk to me." She requests, her eyebrows up in a hopeful manner.
Joe sits up from hunching forward. "What?" He states gently.
She wipes her hand across his ear again with a frown. Joe unlocks his fingers and circles his arm around her neck tightly, pulling her face to his chest. Normally, Demi hated it when he did that but her eyes close in relaxation as she clutched his shirt. Joe kisses her temple as he hears her apology.
After awhile, Demi looks up at him with the sadness still clearly plastered in his eyes. "How was it?"
When he looks at her, she doesn't know if it was sadness she saw or was it exhaustion. Maybe both. "Good. Too good for my liking, but good nonetheless."
Demi bites her lip. "Was she nice to you?"
He nods, almost close enough to smile. He missed his girlfriend. "Yeah."
"Then what's wrong?"
"Does it make me a bad person.. to expect, to hope for the worst? The whole time I was looking for something wrong. But he's happy. They're all perfect." He states quietly.
"You make it sound like that's a bad thing." Her eyes match his.
His smile is crooked as he turns to her. "It's not." Then it slowly fades. "It just sucks that you're not a part of something like that anymore.."
Demi gives him a funny look. "But you are. You're happy and perfect."
He rolls his eyes at her, shaking it off. "You know, it amazes me how you can turn into this pit of bitches and fury then into this gushy marshmellow." He shifts across the table as he lies on his back with his head in Demi's lap, getting comfortable.
She smirks at him. "I'm a mom now, can't be all bitch anymore."
"Well, I, for one think that you should channel your mom side more. My balls would feel much safer that way." He watches her laugh. He's glad he can still make her do that.
"You were expecting that? I'll save that idea for next time." She jokes, poking her fingers into his sides.
Joe jerks away as he takes a hold of her hands. "Don't make me get up, Demi."
She sticks her tongue out at him in defeat, calming down. "There won't be a next time."
Demi smiles cheekily down at him, forgetting just how sweet her boyfriend was. Her daddy was right. "I love you." She offers.
"I love you." He obliges.
She couldn't stop the smile that took over her face as she slipped from under Joe then climbing on top of him. "What are you doing?"
"Sitting." She smirks, purposely bouncing on his stomach, earning a grunt.
He places his hands on her hips securing her from doing it again. "You are such a bitch." He lets out before Demi kisses him.
"Prom is coming up in a few days.." He says, almost wincing when Demi brushes against him.
"Just have Aubrey home before midnight.." She says playfully before kissing him again, longer this time.
He pulls away with dazed eyes. "Your dad's watching.."
"He's a big boy, he'll deal." Demi kisses him one more time before pulling away to him grunting. He looks as if in pain. "Sorry.." A look of sympathy are in her eyes.
Joe sighs and sits up, pulling her in his lap instead. "You are a big tease, you know?"
"Hey, it's not my fault my vagina doesn't get hard." Joe looks at her in disbelief with her vulgar words.
"Seriously, what the hell did I ever see in you?" She pushes at his face.
"It's not my fault you're always thinking with your dick." She spits in his direction with a pout.
Joe smiles at her sweetly. "It's not my fault you're beautiful.." It's hard for Demi as she tries to keep her lips in a straight line.
"Oh, please.." She mutters, looking away from his big brown eyes.
It's not long before their giggling at each other. They were just that dysfunctionally perfect.
