The Train Whistle - played by Aaron Minsky (the composer)

Aaron Minsky plays the Train Whistle from his Ten American Cello Etudes published by Oxford University Press. The suite was released in 1988 and in only a couple of decades has become part of the standard cello repertoire. It is performed, studied, and taught around the world and is in the curriculums of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, U.K., the American String Teachers Association, and those of many other countries. Noticing recently that some students have started to put videos of his etudes on You Tube, the composer has decided to put up some of his own! This is the first. You can view many other videos of his playing, including cuts with his band Von Cello (also his stage name) on You Tube. He also has his own voncello website and is mentioned on thousands of web pages.

Aaron Minsky hopes that more and more people will post performances of his music on the web. Even though he has his own interpretations, he enjoys hearing the interpretations of others.

Very Cooool!!! I love the cello. I never heard blues played on the cello before! This is the first! I would like to start playing. How do I go about choosing a cello for an amateur?

ok so as part of our required core classes we have to take a music class and we recently had some of the music professors perform for us and one of them performed this piece and he did a marvelous job I think he'd make you proud, but this is awesome, being that I normally wouldn't think to fancy this type of stuff (:
