Can you tell me if ther is a clip of Tom Lehrer doing The Vatican Rag on /in The Gong Show Movie available on You Tube or anywhere else? I remember seeing it and would like to download that particular version of it, especially with his chorus line of nuns dancing. Thanx.

@TheSV3, no, I don't know anything about this. Wikipedia says that the movie was made in 1980 and, by that time, Lehrer was back in business as a university lecturer in math. Please send me a message if you find such a video clip. Search for Marty Feldman and Tom Lehrer on YouTube to watch some nuns dancing to the rag.

I really love the rhyms. Just saying because it's rare that I give attention to rhyms in english song (my main language is french) but the lyrics are easy to understand, the rythm is good and the rhyms are always perfect. (sorry if I fucked that paragraph up, typing the best I can right now)

He did his bit to encourage mockery of the Catholic Church. Very few people at that time -- or any time, sadly -- would have interpreted this as a satire on Vatican II, rather than on Catholicism -- and Mr. Lehrer probably knew that.
