@benoni45 Never could understand Zimmer's designation of
"Champagne Lady". What's a champagne lady? Also she
was married to a guy but would sing duet love songs with
"Chimmy Roberts-a", who was married to another lady.
Just seemed strange, that's all. Guess those weird TV
arrangements fell under the category of "Fantasy".

My parents wedding song .... they're both gone now .... but I still remember playing it on the accordion for them as they danced in the kitchen on a Saturday night, my brother and sisters watching ...... loved this show ...

Thank you for the background on this beautiful song. I love Norma Zimmer's voice so much, but when Jimmy Roberts chimes in, it is so distracting to me. If Norma had a top-flight baritone, like Tom Netherton, or earlier, like Bing or Dick Haymes, it would have been a smash. I'm sure Jimmy Roberts was a true gentleman, great person, but his singing leaves me FLAT. Thank you for posting this beautiful song, and please post many more like it. Fantastic!

THIS SONG was composed by the romanian composer Iosf Ivanovici in 1880, under the name "Waves of the Danube".
Long time after, those guys just PUBLISHED it, and not COMPOSE IT, probably thinking it's a forgoten old song.
You will find all about this on wikipedia.

Is Lawrence Welk dancing with his wife?

That is so "touching." I thought the same. You made my day!!
Norma Zimmer, relatively new to me but what a strikingly handsome woman she is!!

When I was a kid I thought my folks "square" because we had to be home on Friday nights to watch Lawrence Welk. What a drag! Now that I'm "old", and they're gone I enjoy watching and some songs, like this one, brings tears to my eyes. Funny how things change. Thanks for posting...
