How to Kill Mosquitoes!! How to make an attractive toxic sugar bait to kill mosquitoes in your yard. New York Times article on new mosquito research inspired me to give this a shot using juice and brown sugar as a lure and boric acid to poison and kill. Everybody thinks mosquitoes live only on blood. Turns out they sip nectar from rotting fruit and sweet blossoms. This low-cost bait should get them to drink the juice and then WHAMMO - death by poison. Cheap solution to my problem? We shall see. Hi, It got cold out and I've basically stopped spending any time in my yard, so i don't know. I will definitely be using this method in the spring so i will post an update in may. I also need to figure out a good way to cover this so rain won't ruin it. Thanks for your interest.
