this video is dated in the description as "OCT 3 72". that's October 3rd 1972. as stated in the top comments, dentists started wearing gloves in the late 80's early 90's. THAT'S why there's no gloves. but of course back then they no doubt scrubbed like surgical doctors do.

I don't think you'd ever see it. You deal with it blindly, trial and error kind of thing till you attain certain amount of practice enabling you to reduce it properly. Or that's what I think.
