July 4, 2009 - Severe Thunderstorm Near Beiseker, AB

Finally had my first chase of the season yesterday. Recently there has been a ton of thunderstorm activity here in Alberta but due to work commitments I haven't been able to chase. I intercepted this storm about 15 km east of Beiseker, Ab which is about 1/2 hour NE of Calgary. This storm had the makings of a monster. Hail, wind, and a massive amount of moisture. If i had the internet with me (down at the moment) I might have chased about a 1/2 hour north of this storm were a tornado touched down just north of Red Deer. As I write this decription Environment Canada has now issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the southern half of the province. Maybe I'll get chase number two in this afternoon!

Thanks! Not many good storms hitting the city this year. We just got dumped on here in the NW though. Lots of flooded streets!

cool. my farm is near there. i remember haw loud it was.

i remember that storm. i remember me and my friend were walking around the farm when the clouds started to role and then it started to rain and hail.and the thunder was louud. then we went to the stampede and got hailed on for about ten minutes.
