NZ Customs kindly allowed me to import the Wicked Lasers 1W Blue Arctic G3 handheld laser, described in news reports as the "Worlds most dangerous laser". It's even been mentioned in NZ Parliament with a view to banning it from import.
After testing it out, its definitely dangerous. REALLY dangerous! But like so much else in life, it all comes down to personal responsibility.

If this laser gets banned, it won't be because of me.

  • i am in New zealand too. Thinking to buy one but is it still ok to buy? will custom stop from coming to my mail box?

  • @dorikings

Phone the customs hotline and ask if they're still allowed in. They're very helpful and will give you a definite yes or no on the spot or in a few minutes. As long as they can see you know the dangers and won't do anything silly, they're good.

  • Just ordered the spartan 1000mw laser from dragon lasers and I can't wait to use it!!!!

  • 1:11 i trained there with my laser...

  • All I can offer is hearsay as far as the 'cobalt' is concerned, but that info came by way of people who have both purchased and tested it on an LPM. From what I gather, they are no where near the stated output, and are just another hobbyist laser built with china parts and a turned piece of aluminum.. worth 150$ at best.

If you would like to see the worlds most powerful 445 in a handheld, see my video of the 3.5W I recently designed with beam correction and twin diodes...

  • @TunedCavityLasers Do yoou have one to prove it have you taken any tests? I have the Cobalt 1000 and my friend had the arctic, i tested it and the cobalt performed much beetter then it...

  • @pancakezombie13

The 'cobalt' is an overdriven piece of junk with the same uncorrected 445nm output as the arctic. Difference is the arctic will last longer being driven at a more reasonable output using the same diode...

  • Thanks for posting the video. I miss trekking in the gorge. Lived in Kerepehi for a while in 2001 and explored the old mine sites a lot. Nice video.

  • Isn't the Cobalt 2000 more powerful than this?

  • That's no where near "The Worlds most Dangerous laser" ; obviously, but it is pretty neat.
