"Lord now lettest Thou Thy Servant depart in peace" Sergey Rachmaninoff
The Orthodox Singers Male Choir
Soloist Aleksei Maslov (tenor)

"Ныне отпущаеши" С.В. Рахманинов
Мужской Хор "Православные Певчие"
Солист - Алексей Маслов (тенор)

Текст - Text:
Ныне отпущаеши раба Твоего, Владыко, по глаголу Твоему, с миром;
яко видеста очи мои спасение Твое,
еже еси уготовал пред лицем всех людей,
свет во откровение языком, и славу людей Твоих Израиля.

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace : according to thy word.
For mine eyes have seen : thy salvation,
Which thou hast prepared : before the face of all people;
To be a light to lighten the Gentiles : and to be the glory of thy people Israel.

  • Interesting recording. Instead of the final note being a Bb, its A1 or maybe my hearing its failing. The tenor is sweet, thats the best thing. And is Vladimir Miller in this recording?? Because you can hear from 3:42 to 4:11 Wichniakovs rough and laud voice but at the background I believe its Millers voice that's more powerfull and dark. But well that's just I don't know if anyone notice it.

  • @DonSair20

    Both Vladimir Miller and Yuriy Vishnyakov sang in this concert.

    It is sung a semitone lower - the final note is A1.

  • Ahhhh, I've been looking for this song! I adore that decent at the end, utterly incredible. It's amazing; after quite some time of seldom finding any new music I like I've developed such an obsession with Basso Profondo and the excellent Russian manipulators of such a range. Thank you for sharing. Is this song from a CD?..

  • This recording is from a Christmas Concert on 11th of January 2005 in the Church of Saint. Ivan in Latvia. You can find it on the choir's site, under the tab "Концертные записи хора" or "Live Recording" on the english translation of the site. Good to hear you've enjoyed! :)

  • What a thrill from that final descending Bb minor scale, especially to have that last note so powerfully nailed. The piece sounds different transcribed for all male voices, but it works. Also, great tenor.

  • ...wish the ending lasted forever.

  • @DonSair20 yes, it is almost an A!!!

  • ...обсуждающие игру актеров, после просмотра фильма, фильма не видели...

  • супер голос!!!!!!

  • Probably the most spiritually uplifting sounds I have heard - fitting exit music at a funeral of on who has served his fellow Man.

  • Indeed, a low A. Leave it to this choir to take the piece with one of the lowest notes in choral repertoire and pitch it down.

    For the record, on both this song and the "We Praise Thee," both Wichniakov and Miller are singing with the choir on this recording, as well as all the other basso profondo's in this choir.
