Aah ..... Rome .... Would it be a coincidence that the first 3 letters of this city's name are the same as in the word " Romantic " ....? Well, yes of course that's just 'by accident' but we had to find "some" opening lines for this little write-up so ;-) Indeed, if music pieces would get 'points' for the "romantic 'aspect' "then this "Fountains of Rome" played by the great Manuel would certainly score a big "10" :) Composed in 1956 by Hungarian born Matyas Seiber, this song (with lyrics by Norman Newell) became a huge UK hit in that same year for David Hughes. Seiber (who had been working in the UK since 1935) even received the Ivor Novello Award for this composition, a prize yearly given to outstanding composers by the British Association of songwriters, composers and authors (BASCA). 'Quality always finds it's way....'
From the 1968 album "Magic Fountains" here are Manuel and his Mountain musicians with "Fountains of Rome". Happy dreams !

  • EXCELENTE!!!

  • Very nice dear Walter!!!! Rome my city!!!! Warm huggies Perla.

  • Beautiful with the shimmering strings, Walter! Added to my Geoff Love & Music of 1968 playlists. Someone just posted Exodus Theme (1960) & i got copious thanks in Spanish for my 112 lists for every year since 1900! This is fun to compile, but a chore replacing all the unplayable vids periodically. i lost Claude Ciari's Dance of Zorba from 1965, yet in searching for a replacement found his La Playa from 1964. Win a few, lose a few. Regards from 38° Phoenix, burning our hands from the 'cold' tap!

  • Sound great as always in the music of Manuel/Geoff, a melody that transports us to the melancholy and happiness.

    Greetings
