A team of researchers at Missouri State University is part of a five-year, $15 million U.S. Department of Energy Grant to develop materials for next-generation energy production. The grant designates the Missouri State team as a participant, and the center for energy frontier research in extreme environments.
In an effort to accelerate the scientific breakthroughs needed to build a 21st century energy economy, 46 new multi-million dollar centers will be established at universities, national laboratories, non-profit organizations and private firms across the nation.
Missouri State is one of 16 institutions, laboratories and universities in the United States working toward the goals of the project. Professor Robert Mayanovic and the Department of Physics, Astronomy and Material Sciences heads the Missouri State team. That department is in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, one of the colleges being recognized at today's game.
On the field to congratulate Dr. Mayanovic is Missouri State President Mike Nietzel, and a special guest: the Governor of the State of Missouri, the Honorable Jay Nixon. Please acknowledge Dr. Mayanovic and Missouri State's contributions to future energy production.
