  • Nobody expects this (or shaft or even belt drive bikes) to take over. The point is that people are thinking about drive systems and coming up with new ideas. People who are saying "I wouldn't buy one" are missing the point.

  • @carpenter751 and this video is in response to the Trek District video. They didn't explain how the belt-driven bicycle can change gear, unless it's got a hub gearbox.

  • NO

  • way too complicated for a bike. Look up Dynamic bicycles' shaft drive.

  • Why not replace the chain with a cog or V belt, like a timing belt?

  • so complicated

  • It might have a lot of potential for commuters especially in nasty wintry climates. I'd like to hear more about it. I am not a big fan of internal gear hubs, but 3 or 6 speeds is plenty for a dutch bike.

  • Really cool... finally some innovation in this otherwise go with the flow world of bicycles.

  • @carpenter751

The trek is just plain CRAP... all they "innovated" was to replace a metal chain with a belt.

  • odd

    definitely a novelty item
