This is just a quick gameplay video of a bot match in the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament III.

I'm playing with a keyboard and mouse, and the bot difficulty is two from the top. Anyways, try comparing this gameplay to my previous gameplay video of the PS2 version of the original UT where I'm playing against bots in the same map.

I actually just got this game today, and my post some online footage of it later. I played online earlier today, and didn't do particularly well even with my keyboard and mouse setup. The game was a little bit laggy, which meant that even with the precise aim afforded to me using the KB and Mouse, I would still miss. I also have a knack for getting double teamed from two different directions when I get in a fight with someone. The other player is usually behind me.

Plus, I don't know that maps aside from Deck 16 here, and even then they were just camping the hell out of the rockets hallway blindly shooting rockets while preventing anyone from getting to them. I did notice that console online gamers tend to camp more. This is Unreal damn it, no pansy hiding, go out and kill some s***. Quit camping the armor, and life spawns you pansies!

And that is my rant.

  • i never knew you had a ps3? i have one too xD, im assuming you sold your xbox, btw ps2 version of ut99 is garbage, mainly due to the lack of online multiplayer

  • @mutantx20 I've still got my 360 as well, but I don't have a gold account with it. I see no point in wasting the money on it now. As for the PS2 version, it's good for some simple bot deathmatching. I wouldn't pay $50 for it, but I probably paid around $5-$7 for it, so it's good for the price I paid. I also want to get the DC version as well just to see the differences.

  • @teh2Dgamer haha yes i love the dreamcast, never had one though, ut99 and quake 3 was beast on it, i liked how it had a very good online service, similar to xbox live (without the price :P) the online was really well, if you had a lan adapter, but i dont think the online still works for ut99 on it though, idk i'll have to look more into it

  • @mutantx20 As far as I know the online for UT DC is long gone, but I think some people have found a way to play QIII still

  • Heh, playing with a keyboard and mouse on a console, I never thought about that

I wonder how many use that setup online

And will it give you an advantage over the dualshock-users?

  • I still got murdered online. In order for you to use it, it has to be a server that allows for KB and mouse support. Some servers don't but other do.

  • geilste game ever

  • lol I think we played DM a couple of times, but damn I can't believe people actually use the zoom for the sniper

  • On a controller on the other hand, the aiming thumb has to double for all other functions, such as jumping (Which makes jumping shots a pain to pull off).

Re-arranging the functions on the buttons often helps, but you'll still end up with at least a few crucial functions on less ideal keys.

Really, only the trigger fingers and related shoulder buttons are independent, which doesn't really help. Sure, you can shoot anytime, but not always aim for those shots.

  • Also the keyboard is more convenient for arranging the controls just as you want them. Though oftentimes, there's only one way you want to arrange them, as follows: With a keyboard mouse combo, you have the benefit of using one hand for movement actions (W A S D for movement, C/CTRL for ducking, Space for jumping), and the other hand solely focused on weapon aiming and usage (Mouse and mouse keys).

    This is a HUGE advantage.
