Michael Praetorius (1571-1621) was a German composer, organist, and writer about music. He was one of the most versatile composers of his age, being particularly significant in the development of musical forms based on Protestant hymns. One of his most recognized musical pieces are The Dances from Terpsichore, a compendium of over 300 instrumental dances, which is both his most widely-known work, as well as his sole surviving secular work.

  • @ysbaddaden2003 This song is ace in billions of ways, ansd to me it is real music Mike Oldfield did this tune but much slower in billions of ways and Mike's version is hardly dance music but still good.

  • @laveyflan1

It is homophonic, with a polyphonic texture.

  • I've gotta get this on vinyl for my next hip-hop DJ set. My homie Dirty will rhyme over the polyphonic beats.

  • @nurywais That's: Homorythmic.... not Homophonic.

  • @kfcohea

A Bouree is danced in quick double time, somewhat resembling the gavotte

  • @laveyflan1 polyphonic, i think.... not sure.

  • @laveyflan1 It´s polyphonic as it involves more than one voice, and it´s homophonic as the voices go almost with the same rhythm.

  • This is what they should play in the stores and restaurants, since they are always force feeding music all the time. Unfortunately much of today's music is crapola. Now this is real music!

  • You have done the world a great service by bringing this up, and sharing. I am ashamed that I did not know of this myself. Michael was truly a wonderful composer, and this piece is a sign of a link to all music. Why this era of music is so ignored by so many generations is hard to fathom. Thank you for sharing!

  • How do I hold all these Lutes?
