The UK government is said to be considering the use of special 'black boxes' - to record people's internet activities - all in the name of national security. But the plans have got privacy advocates up in arms. Emma Carr, the deputy director of Big Brother Watch organisation, says the proposal must be further studied before being applied.

Yes, I'm sorry! Please let me correct my comment.

The largest perpetrators of illegal activity are the Governments of the world, (and their horrible little minions ie media) who screw the planet and it's inhabitants on a regular basis, probably because the majority of them are greedy inbred psychopaths!

The major threat to National Security in the UK and around the world is the GOVERNMENT. Who will watch the watchers. NO ONE! The government can easily be infiltrated by the corrupt and insane and already has. The government is no longer your friend.

There is plenty of proof out there that the general populous is better at circumventing anything implemented to restrict them online. Even darpa can't combat that. It's human nature to pull things apart to see how it works. So far any attempt by any government to restrict, watch without user consent, or attack even has been thwarted by the high end hackers out there And if darpa did, we would know about it by now because some hacker would have exploited it themselves.

So, I can assume whatever MEGA is going to use will be away from prying eyes, and the double encryption is great.

What I am a little worried about is how these cypherpunk algorithms are developed? Is it don't individually or do you guys work communally? How do you know that someone you think is your friend isn't just feeding the source code to the FBI or NSA?

Look at Adrian Lamo, for example - not directly comparable, but you get the idea - can you know for sure that it isn't being leaked?

    Sorry for the late reply.

Well, I'd like to share your optimism, however the people who invent these encryption algorithms tend to be normal people, not morally infallible gods. And a lot of them will give up the source code if enough cash is dangled in front of them.

And even if they don't, there's usually someone who's cleverer than them working for these agencies who can break the encryption anyway. And DARPA did invent the internet lol, Im sure there's some backdoor stuff they have access to

    Right back at you.

I guess you wont be wanting all of the free healthcare, education and benefits, then?

That's okay, I'll buy you a ticket to Antarctica, and you can live in an igloo and insult the UK hypocrisy free :D
