Just want to say, People here, could you please pray for my mother and sister that because my mother and sister have backslidden badly, Maybe they fooled herself that she was saved. @97antwon then where in the scriptures (Chapter and verse) do they say that the salvation story makes on sense?

@tjhammond In the absence of any footnote, in the absence of any verse specifically targeting the verse(s) in question and changing the meaning or the scope of the verse(s), in the absence of any authority, duly appointed, with the necessary credentials to interpret, you have nothing to prove that your text supersedes mine. All you can conclude is that those verses target different people.

It is about His Apostles.

Luke 10:

v.1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place,

v.19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

It is clear from Luke that Christ is talking to his apostles, (not necessarily the 12, but the 70). Nevertheless, Christ is giving His apostles special power.

He talks about his followers, He does limit his promise to the apostles..

v. 14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat,

v. 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;

v. 20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word  with signs following.

The "They" is referring to the Apostles, but as v 20 says they were to confirm his word. That is why they are not around today, because God's Word has been confirmed.
