I tell myself that I will do 10 reps then do 30 reps then write down that I did 4 to confuse my muscles nomsayian.

I don't know if I would call it muscle confusion as much as different exersizes require you to use different fibers of muscles and tear them.
i just tried it at the gym with 40's for 10-12 reps for 3sets and omg that exercise is a killer for real guys give this exercise a try , its a great variation of the arnold press
