The movie is whatever you want it to be...
THAT'S BETTER THAN WHAT HOLLYWOOD HAS TO OFFER
-
This is a movie about a man who claims to prove everyone he is a man
(HE CUT THE GENERAL GENITAL)
He has a dream becoming a master so he went all out to kill all the masters of the universe but he cheated to do just that Even when he is now the only master of the desert he is in great painand the life (2 LESBIANS) he decided to trade his innocence (naked kid) for was all but a shame
Then he is reborn and has a second goal before his past (The kid) catch up to him but society is an evil place
-
Well you don't understand surrealist
You have to interpret what you see in screen... That's what he wants you to do
form your own conclusion This is not some Hollywood 1 dimension shit
Here what i meant by my previous comment
The naked kid symbolizes his innocent past... LATER the past catch up with him

@orphan200 WAT SYMBOL U MEAN PLS?
-
El Topo = "The Mole"
A metaphor that explains itself in his "death and rebirth" from a violent man to a walker of peace and then back into a man of violence before atoning for his crimes. The mole digs into the Earth only to rise again.
-
El TOPO is one of the greatest movie ever made
It has something to say and a big moral ideas behind it
It answers the most basic question in surrealist
A COWBOY AND A KID TOGETHER IS A WESTERN
A COWBOY AND A NAKED KID TOGETHER IS A SYMBOL, SYMBOLIZE SOMETHING...
If I was a movie producer, I would produce all his crazies ideas
LONG LIVE JODOWSKI
SEE SANTA SANGRE TOO

If you don't recommend these films, which films of the Latin American surrealist film genre do you recommend?

@Komputerism
Well, to be honest I don't think I really know any other Latin-American directors who work within the surrealim genre... You? I'd love to check out some more :-) I did see one film by his buddy Fernando Arrabal though, but still don't know what to think about that movie haha..

I can appreciate the effort you put into this, but man, that was a horrible interpretation of Jodorowsky's work. You appear to not understand much of what man was trying to say, you don't find any plot in any of the films, you don't even recommend them, but somehow you like them(?) and you give them 8 out of 10 starts(?) I really don't get you, but I can tell that you're watching those movies for all the wrong reasons. I'm sorry if this hurts your feelings, but I'm just being honest with you.

@ElegantNudibranch
2/2 And the reason I didn't really recommend them is because, even though I'm not sure, I guess I might have a more general audience, and I just think that this isn't the kind of movie someone would enjoy when they've been watching mainstream American movies their whole life! Again, thanks for your comment, I hope my reactions might have cleared some stuff up :)
