M134 Miniguns from Blackhawls and even Hellfire missiles as well as other armaments from Apaches. Hell, even F-22s and F-35s are in some cutscenes.

I don't think it matters if they used 7.62 any more.

I don't think it matters. The infected mutations are resistant to pretty much anything at later stages. They still retain the humanlike terms when getting shot but have bullet resistant skin. It takes 2 Javelin hits to take them down.

They tried everything too. 9mm M9s, 556mm m4s, 30mm grenades from m32s, heavy AT rockets from javelins, BGM-170 and 25mm IFV rounds from Bradleys, 120mm AP and AT rounds from Abrams, M109A6 paladin cannons on Abrams, CONTINUED

Yeah they just kill infected and are taking orders from Blackwatch, they have no idea what they are doing.

The military would be more successful if they used 7.62 x 39mm rounds, the 5.56 NATOs pass right through the target inflicting minimal damage, and considering this enemy is one that ignores pain completely and will be a physical threat until they are disposed of for sure you don't need penetration you need energy direction to go directly into their frame not only to ensure they are knocked back and time is bought but also that they suffer optimal amounts of muscular, organ, and skeletal damage.
