With the helpers on the lead, west bound 135 exits Sand Patch tunnel. The helpers get taken off just past Sand Patch towel and head back to Hyndman, where the helpers where stationed at this time. Then the three 4 axle GE's will take the train west to Chicago. One EMD spoils the sound of the GE's. The second clip is at Keystone S bend, and its the 137, which was following the 135. Thanks for watching. Jackmp294

  • Thanks for the videos! Sand Patch is one more place I'd love to experience but I know I'll never get there.

  • @htc6600 You should try to get to Sand Patch atleast once! It is a neat place to see, and pretty easy to chase. If you ever do head up there, let me know...

  • Meanwhile in Russia A-1q27XemMI

  • @tramwayz Fantastic! Helpers on the rear and all. Sound pretty good, but not as good as the chug of the GE's. But that smoke!!! Holy cow!! Do they all smoke like that in Russia! The activist would be protesting that smoke here the the USA. Thanks for sending me that like! Take care, and greetings from the USA...

  • That's really neat to see. It's from about 13 years before I worked there.

  • Bet you missed good ride on them old GE's Thanks for watching. Jackmp294

  • Awesome classic video! I had the privilege of seeing these units as a kid but did not have the appreciation that I do now it's sad that they are long gone now. I'm an EMD guy but I have always loved the CHUG of a U boat or C30-7!

  • these were the days...

  • That is MUSIC to my ears! So love the sound of a reved GE U unit as well as the full blast of a EMD SD-40-2. 8-) Why cant they make them sound like that anymore? :-(

  • Nice sounding units! The U-boats have to be my favorite GE model

  • @Hiei2k7 - GE hasn't outsourced their diesels since the late 1950s. These were built in-house at GE, just as today's GE diesels are.

  • all those GE's YEAH BABY!

  • @1jackdk, they are (I mean russian 2TE10) 2-stroke engines and I hate them. GE sounds better, yeah. Even american 2-stroke engines sound better than 2TE10.
