Invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1761. Music by Wolfgang A. Mozart. Played by French artist Thomas Bloch, exhibiting the glass harmonica in the Paris Music Museum, Nov. 29, 2007.

He didn't invent it. He improved the design by changing it from glasses filled with water to glass disks spinning in a trough of water. This was Franklin's genius - to markedly improve the world around him.

He invented the idea of the instrument itself. The idea of using glasses for music had been around for some time, but he was the first one to make an actual instrument out of them.
