Throwback Galaxy - Mission 1
Return of the (spoiler)
This is probably going to give away the entire idea of the mission to people who haven't reached this part of the game yet, which is why I refer to the boss of this mission as "(spoiler)." The thumbnails don't help either. By now though, the YouTube description will hide this sentence and the tags unless you choose to expand it, in which case you probably don't mind the name of the boss.
It's the Whomp King.
The Throwback Galaxy is a very close remake of Whomp's Fortress from Super Mario 64. In fact, I believe that the paintings in Super Mario 64 are quite possibly portals to various galaxies like these. Stages like Rainbow Ride and The Princess's Secret Slide certainly wouldn't be out of place if we were to consider them as galaxies in the Mario Galaxy sense, and nearly all of the places Mario visits are just floating, Big Boo's Haunt being one of the rare exceptions (as it's a cage in the courtyard that Mario shrinks into).
Aside from the stuff put in to keep it up to date with Super Mario Galaxy 2, such as Star Bits and the Comet Coin, a major difference is that the Whomp King is NOT located at the top of the tower anymore, but rather, a lone guard Whomp. Defeating him takes you to the bottom of the stage, where gravity is flipped the other way and where the Whomp King hangs out. All of the Whomps below the top of the stage have been removed too.
By the way, this stage is located in World 6, and only 1 galaxy stands between this one and the final battle with Bowser. Whomp's Fortress, on the other hand, is the second stage in Super Mario 64. This game is supposed to be way more difficult than the first Super Mario Galaxy, so why Whomp's Fortress? This stage is indeed disproportionately easy, though the Whomp King puts up a much better fight than before. (What you may not notice if you haven't played this game yet is that each jump of his will either produce those mini-Whomps or an earthquake that will paralyze Mario or Luigi for some time.) Know what I think? I think they should have put in Tall Tall Mountain. It has the same music, the Bob-omb Buddies are there, and it's way harder. Not as hard as some of the galaxies in World 6, but not so overwhelmingly unchallenging.
Requested by a lot of people. Seriously, this must be by far my most requested mission so far.
I don't think it's a spoiler- people have had since 1996 to play it ;)

@ChromaAurora It's for people playing through Super Mario Galaxy 2--I tried to find the least recognizable thumbnail, but YouTube preferred not to make one.
