John MacDonell, Nova Scotia's Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Natural Resources, speaks to an October 27 rally at the Halifax Legislature for strong new regulations of the province's woodlands. MacDonell says he supports a limit on the amount of clear-cutting, and an absolute ban on whole-tree harvesting. The prime minister is expected to announce a whole new forest regulatory regime within the next week or so.
