A song about the government's persecution of Gibson Guitar. Written and proudly played on a Gibson Blue Ridge guitar I bought in 1969. Write to your Representatives and Senators and let them know you support Gibson! Here are the lyrics:

Keep Your Hands Off Our Wood
An Original Song for Gibson Guitar
©2011 Steve Bryant

(Verse)
Government came into Gibson Guitar,
With automatic weapons, it was so bizarre.
Didn't believe they would go this far,
They were up to no good.

All the agents wore the American eagle.
Claimed Gibson did something that was really illegal.
It wasn't terrorism or abuse of a beagle.
The root of the crime was just wood.

(Chorus)
Keep you hands off our wood,
Keep your hands off our wood,
Even in the morning if we're up to no good,
Keep your government hands off our wood.

(Verse)
The agents said they had complaints,
Gibson wasn't showing proper restraint.
It wasn't their lacquer, their glue or their paints,
No one understood.

So they took some guitars and bunch of loose planks,
They walked out the door, didn't even say thanks.
Just a bunch of federal agents who were acting like skanks,
To get their hands on our wood.

(Chorus)
Keep you hands off our wood,
Keep your hands off our wood,
Even in the morning if we're up to no good,
Keep your government hands off our wood.

(Bridge)
Don't the government have some better things to do?
Like getting us out of a war or two.
Or fixing the economy, like a good government should.
Ebony and rosewood aren't common good.

(Verse)
They busted Gibson while the others went free,
Said Gibson was barking up the wrong foreign tree,
Soon they'll confiscate guitars from you and from me,
Stating they misunderstood.

The government said that justice will be done,
The Gibson case would be number one,
And after this they're coming for your gun.
They'll claim it's all about the wood.

  • That's tellin' those Chekists!

  • Steve I assume we are talking about the matching indian rosewood back that i have on my 1969 gibson blue ridge, which of all my guitars sounds the best Roy

  • Steve, I have a request and a question for you.

Question: Why didn't the local sheriff uphold his duties and protect Gibson from the federal goon squad? Its within his power, it is his job description, its in his oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the united states.

Request: Write a song that lays out the above question - thus shaming him - and hopefully resulting in his removal from office for dereliction of duty.

goto sheriffmackDOTcom to learn about a sheriffs duties.

  • That Crazy Joe Biden wants a Flying V

And corrupt Eric Holder wants a new SG

Them libs they be taken rights away from you and me

The US would be socialist, if they only could

  • ...That Barry O'Bama, well he doesn't like

You making contributions to those who lean right

He'll sick his goons and henchmen, using all of his might

He'll claim "it's all about the wood"

Or maybe he just wanted a Les Paul for his own

But he's too arrogant to buy one on his own

His actions, I could never ever condone

This President's nothing but DEAD WOOD!

  • Amen brother!

  • Right on, Steve!!!!!! GREAT JOB!!!! Thumbs up and sharing. Hope to see you at the rally!

  • Sounds great. I'm excited to have found this.

  • We've got you back Gibson - let freedom ring.

  • @LindaVeeSado and my 1962 Gibson J50. United We Stand.!
