This is a tutorial/explanation of the short Ableton Live jam video using two Novation Launchpads (www.novationmusic.com). This is after two weeks playing with the units, I will upload more videos as I get more experienced with them.

  • this is awesome!

  • @Sheeeeepies1 They actually don't, It's just the camera. I have a windows and they don't flicker or flash at all.

  • @cosmcosm It wold be really great if yo could give a little more detailed explanation on how to map and set up the midi tracks and such for the g-minor scal thing you have going on. Every time I try and recreate something similar, I end up lost.

  • Most complicated 8 step sequencer ever. Really great execution of the idea though, cool how you use muting to toggle notes on and off.

The way you use proxy notes is really smart and powerful too, if you could map functions to midi notes that are played within live that could have potential.

I don't think live was made for step sequencers, overdub and quantize is the equivalent tool. In this way timing is not visualized on the controller, but the screen (or your ears) gives you the feedback.

  • @Sheeeeepies1 Yeah when I have it plugged into a usb hub that's not plugged into the laptop I see fireworks on the display! :D

  • @SamIves85 I've been playing around with a setup using the launchpad and the ideas in this video. I made a few tweaks and what I'm coming up with sounds amazing and so fun to play around with!

Best thing I ever did in music was switching to Live!

  • Tom mate you are a LEGEND! Pretty much everything I needed to know is in this video! Cheers! :)

  • Can We get a link to the Ableton file template?? : )
