"She Sings" is the first documentary co-operation between a director from Bhutan and a director from Denmark, made in a formerly closed country in the mist of the Himalayas. Bhutan was the last country in the world to allow TV in 1999 and has only in the past decade established its own movie industry. 19 year old Dechen dreams of becoming a famous singer and has signed up to become a contestant in the TV singing contest 'Druk Superstar', the Bhutanese parallel to "X-Factor".As the competition evolves, we are led into the life of a young girl caught in the crossover from adolescence to adulthood, living in a country in the middle of a transition from the secluded, old world to the open-minded, modern world. The film is part of the Dox Lab, a Copenhagen Dox initiative promoting cross border co-operation. The film will open in November and has been nominated for CPH:DOX and NORDIC:DOX.
Director: Caroline Sascha Cogez
Co-director: Dechen Roder
Producers: Casper Høyberg & Ulrik Gutkin
