This video shows a glass of orange juice and when you view it closely, what do you see?Half Full or Half Empty ?
For Malaysia to become a World Class Nation we need World Class Citizens, people like you and me and people that work in the Government(Public Services) and in the Private Services sectors.
It is important YOU and ME,knows what to do (take action)so that the glass of orange can be filled up (with better results by being optimistic) or drink it all up (to execute the actions taken or just being pessimistic ie.not trying to do anything or give up hope)
The recent article in the Magazine Edge among the many highlights is "Managing Change in the Public Sector"According to the Chief Secretary to the Government or KSN,Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan's,he said the goal is a World Class Civil Service(about 1.2 million) that he wants to transform and he wants to do it quick.Tan Sri KSN also said he wants the public service to be fast, quick and responsive.
It is also about "Raising the Bar" of service excellence. From Ramli's Approach of World Class Performance as thought by Ramli's Guru Prof.David Drennan in 2005,it is all about stepping the ladders, one step at a time to realistically move up from an ordinary performance level (Level 1) to a World Class Performance level (Level 5)
Motorola did not get to achieve 6 Sigma (99.9997 % yield rate or 0.0003%(3.4pcs reject per million) rejects per million in just a year or two but took them many years of hard work and smart thinking.Even when Motorola achieved the feat of 6Sigma they still need to continue keeping the World Class Status because in World Class Performance we also compare it like being able to qualify in the Final 8 Runners of the 100Metres sprint in the Olympics. If you are not in the Final 8,you are still not World Class! So,World Class like Quality is a Journey of Excellence no ending no final destination, just keep on doing the best in the world all the time!Only that way, your customers remember YOU very well.
So,for Malaysia to become a World Class Nation with World Class Talents also need such a well planned approach that actually have started with Dr.Mahathir way back in 1981 but along the way,too many Gurus have come along and make a "rojak" of the mission. Now we are like back to Step 1 and working towards Step 5!So how long,do you think we can reach Step 5 (World Class)?
The learning point is always "stick to the basics" and follow the way through with excitement, enthusiasm and excellence (3E)
Good to learn new things or knowledge but do not forget the basics like the teachings of Deming,Juran and Crosby that we have learned so much in the 1980s' but somehow did not bother to stick to the foundations of Why Quality is Important in our business, products and people.
Quality is the foundation of Good Business & Quality is made in the Boardroom-Deming.A project is a problem due for solution & Go for Breakthroughs(New Improvement)-Juran.Zero Defects & Making Quality Certain in Uncertain Times-Crosby.
Ramli propose the Malaysian Leaders both in Govt and Private sectors to basically REENERGISE their Quality Initiatives and follow the Basics 100% and Lead By Example.Inshallah,Malaysia will become a World Class Nation with World Class Citizens by 2020 (at the minimum)

Just for your knowledge:
Is the glass half empty or half full?
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Half empty or half full?

Is the glass half empty or half full? is a common expression, used rhetorically to indicate that a particular situation could be a cause for optimism (half full) or pessimism (half empty); or as a general litmus test to simply determine if an individual is an optimist or a pessimist. The purpose of the question is to demonstrate that the situation may be seen in different ways depending on one's point of view and that there may be opportunity in the situation as well as trouble.
