The Hand Up Youth Food Pantry at Jewish Family Service of San Diego is competing for a $250,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project and we need YOUR help to move Hand Up to the top two spots by December 31.
In 2009-10, Hand Up distributed almost 165,300 pounds of food to more than 7,200 clients! With a $250,000 Pepsi Refresh grant, we will be able to:
- Purchase a refrigerated truck to distribute 3,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables each week.
- Serve 1,000 military families at monthly distributions on two military bases.
- Serve food to homeless and low-income families (5,000+ people annually).
- Train 30 teenagers in our service learning and leadership development program, building the future leaders of tomorrow.
