Animatic illustrations from an original fable about a gorilla who spends years in captivity forced to fight in a gladiator arena. Part four in a five part series. This is NOT a telling of the actual Sun Wukong legend.

  • The surname Sūn was given as an in-joke about the monkey, as monkeys are also called húsūn (猢猻), and can mean either a literal or a figurative "monkey" (or "macaque"). The surname sūn (孫) and the "monkey"-sūn (猻) only differs in that the latter carries an extra "dog" (quǎn) radical to highlight that 猻 refers to an animal. The given name Wùkōng means "awakened to emptiness". This is translated into Japanese as Son Gokū.

    macaque is your answer

  • um....i think u got the legend of son goku wrong lol first of all he was a monkey not a gorilla. second of all he was a chinese demon /god who has human traits lol.

  • wth is this samurai jack?

  • @thunder2rain He wasn't a god, just immortal. He caused a lot of trouble in the Chinese version of Heaven though. Son Goku is the Japanese name for the character, and the Chinese name is Sun Wukong.

  • I wish this was animated...although reading like its a picture book is fun...but still. Nice ideas! love the drawing style!

  • I like the gorilla face at 3:23 lol
