Just wow. Stick your neck out?!? Not only he doesn't know what he's doing, it's irresponsible to try to teach this crap to others who don't know better.

Hmm...slahing attack, we evade and counterpunch with chops to the throat in Wing Tsun.
Because the Attacker has one more hand to Strike..
-
Ur right.
First lesson i Wing Tsun knife Defense: Bring a knife by Yourself!
It raises Ur Chance bout 300 %
Because, if u holt a knife to, the enemy has to holt distance and u can deliver ur better technic and reactions.
If U got no knife, he can just go to infight, where one lost hand might be ur last.
If U got no Weapon, run!
If U cant run u got to take this uneven fight...
Knife defense have to be trained like hell, cause theres NO space for mistakes!

None of these techniques would work against an elite navy seal. They would never commit them self's
to such stiff attack responses

@bopeuph I agree 100%

Aikido move...

@bopeuph It's not really it's own art however, many do teach it as a separate art. Besides true Chin Na uses strikes as well. And it's not just locking, but throws, submissions, vital point strikes, muscle and bone displacements. It's the grandfather of most grappling arts including BJJ, which came straight from Judo which came from Jujutsu which came straight from Chin Na in the 1600s.
Okay, yeah, we get it.
But how do you defend yourself against an Emin?

@DizzyDerwish Fall on the ground, get in arguments over it for years to come, try to prove that you "won" the fight.

I agree. But, keep in mind that these types of self defense techniques are not intended or even designed with skilled knife handlers in mind. When confronted by a skilled knife fighter, the smartest thing to do is talk your way out of it or just run! Only an idiot tries to defend open handed against a skilled knife handler!

@aj1284 You don't know who's a skilled fighter until it's too late. You fight assuming that he's a good fighter and your life is in danger. And you NEVER perform a technique that only works on the "unskilled." Just like you treat a fake punch like a real one and deal with it accordingly, you treat a knife fighter like he knows what he's doing.
What's the point of learning self defense if it only works with bad fighters? A predatory opponent will most likely know what he's doing. Don't gamble.

the idea of the drills is to get one familiar with the actual move and direction that locks and deflections would be applied. As in Chi sau or others. It eventually becomes a second nature so it happens automatically in a real situation. It helps to practise these drills. it doesn't mean you have to apply it exactly as demonstrated. For sure an experienced or even non experience knife attacker would come at you with multiple strikes as if in a frenzy. have to try and dodge it as if sparring.

My argument isn't how his technique is, but that neck thing! Sticking out your neck is BEGGING for trouble. Drill, yes. You may be cornered someday with an opponent wielding a knife and have to defend. But to play mind games like this is an accident waiting to happen.
As for chisao, I hope you don't mean you would use that exercise in an actual fight. It's a drill to cultivate sensitivity; the chisao in the concept form, not the drill form.
