Climbing up the stairs to the Citadel of the City of Liège, gives you a good overview of this city, where the past and present meet in many places. This video zooms in on:
The Collegiate Church of St. Barthélemy, this church, typical of Rhenish-Mosan architecture, was built between the end of the 11th century and the last decades of the 12th. It is one of the oldest religious buildings in Liège.
The house Curtius, also called Curtius Palace or Grand Curtius (constructed between 1600 en 1610) is the most representative example of Renaissance architecture in the Meuse region. It was restored between 1904 and 1909, is now a museum,
The Railway Station Guillemins, a new station, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava Valls, was inaugurated September 18, 2009 after a decade of work.
The former Grand Poste of Liège was built by architect Edmond Jamar in 1901. This neo-Gothic building combines modern technology using metal in the structure that supports the inner and traditional styles. Octagonal turret surmounted by a spire, statues representing the trades,
The Cathedral of St. Paul, founded in the 10th century
The Stairway 'Montagne de Bueren' is a staircase of 373 steps connecting the center of the city with the Citadel.

Thank you for watching Donni! There always will be some tension, between the old parts of the city and the modern ones. But since lately, in my opinion there is more harmony and balance.

    Have a wonderful week!

    Hugs, Maria:-)

Dank je Ferd. Ja Luik heeft best veel interessante plekken en mooie musea. Er wordt ook nog steeds hard gewerkt om de kwaliteit van het stedelijk gebied te verbeteren. Met resultaat!

    Groetjes, Maria:-)
